What do you mean ‘last minute’? It’s not even Christmas Eve yet!!!
What I mean is if you still haven’t secured gifts for that special person in your life, the one who is kind of a big deal when it comes to style, and you think you can do it all on Christmas Eve you might be in for a shock. Gone are the days when you could zip round your favourite department store and get something for everyone that you could then transport on foot to your car et voila, shopping complete!
Similarly it’s not ok to leave it all to Amazon despite their speedy delivery times. You need to think about your recipient for far longer than it takes to ‘add to basket’. And actually you may find those speedy delivery times somewhat compromised in the festive period.
NEWSFLASH – we know when you’ve nipped out to the supermarket on the afternoon of Christmas Eve that you’re having your last-minute panic after giving zero thought or planning to us despite the fact we’ve thought, bought, planned, wrapped and delivered gifts to all the other people in our lives. When you ask for leftover wrapping paper at 9pm when we’ve just sat down after peeling sprouts, wrapping piggies in their blankets and stuffing turkey orifices all day long it adds just a little more insult to injury.
BUT don’t worry I’ve done the hard work for you and come up with ideas that will leave your giftee wondering how you knew and possibly why they haven’t had the same as they’ve had for the previous five years or the match to last year’s kitchen appliance (possibly on special offer in said supermarket). No kitchen or homeware appliances here!
I bring to you a sleigh full of thoughtful Christmas gift ideas that will have your loved one decking the halls with joy. Let's get festive and discover gifts that will make this Christmas just a tad more thoughtful!
DIY Gift Basket:
Compile a personalised gift basket with your recipient's favourite treats, snacks, and self-care items. Check out their most loved items on the dressing table, in the bathroom cabinet (not the stuff gathering dust at the back, they don’t use it). Consider using a local seller to spread extra Christmas cheer. If you spy lots of Body Shop, Tropic or Temple Spa products chances are there is a local independent business woman who will be glad of your business. They should be easy to find on Facebook or Instagram.
Subscription Services:
Choose a subscription tailored to their interests. My personal favourite is the subscription to Red magazine my husband bought me last year. It really can be the gift that keeps on giving.
Experience Gifts:
Gift an experience like a colour analysis, a style consultation or a personal shopping trip. You can either buy a service or select a voucher option instead so your giftee can choose what they would most like. All you need to do is email your local stylist or me and tell us what you want. A voucher can be sent digitally in no time and you can print out and present any way you wish.
For the makeup lover:
Don't worry you don't need to know their brand and colours - there are other options for you to win Santa's Little Helper points without trawling the Boots counters. Order a flat lay make-up bag here! Believe me, I did NOT know I needed one of these til I received one myself. It's a game changer! It holds your brushes and makeup in a neat and gorgeous bag but opens completely flat so you can see and use everything with ease. Perfect for everyday and for travel. You're welcome!
For the jewellery lover:
It can be cliche! But there's a reason for that. If someone wears a lot of different jewellery then another item is always welcome. Warm skin tones suit gold best and cool skin tones suit silver. If you don't know their skin tone check out whether they are wearing mainly gold or silver then stick to that. I love a bit of silver and I would award extra points to buying local or independent. I love 76 Silver an independently owned biz with expertly crafted silver jewellery in a range of styles and shapes and sizes. Check out her Etsy shop but be quick when you are ordering this way. It takes time for an independent business to process and send your order. Do it NOW!
Something personal:
Etsy is fabulous again for a personalised product but see above for my word of caution on timing. What does your giftee need, love, want? You can order so many items but add their name to it and it's a confirmed personal touch. I was recently gifted a jewellery box perfect for travel but I use it every day too for ring storage. You can find similar here alongside many other options like water bottles and Christmas stockings.
The can't go wrong candle:
Now who doesn't love a candle? Or a collection of beautiful candles. I am particularly in love with this one from Marks & Spencer which is not only scented but lights up when you light the wick. Beautiful on any sideboard or mantlepiece and sparks a little joy each time you light it.
